The Configuration Management Competence Area (CM CA) is integral to overseeing the intricate configuration of satellite systems and ground segment infrastructure, ensuring that robust configuration control and change management practices are adhered to.
The selected individual will deliver comprehensive configuration support across the organization, focusing on the essential aspects of configuration management, including the identification, control, auditing, and reporting of configuration items.
This role entails the responsibility for managing and providing Configuration Management support to the technical departments, including Programme Preparation and Development (PRD), Operations and Services to Users (OPS), and Technical and Scientific Support (TSS).
Reporting to the Head of Process Assurance and Management Support Division (PRS), the successful candidate will have the unique opportunity to leverage their expertise, leadership capabilities, and strategic vision to enhance configuration management activities throughout EUMETSAT.
Supported by a skilled team of engineers and analysts, the candidate will have the chance to significantly influence the future of configuration management at EUMETSAT.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee the Configuration Management (CM) Competence Area, ensuring the ongoing availability of resources, skills, expertise, and tools pertinent to CM;
- Define, implement, and continuously refine Configuration Management (CM) processes for technical departments, aligning with EUMETSAT policies, organizational requirements, relevant international standards, and best practices in CM;
- Provide CM support to technical departments, ensuring performance expectations are met, including regular Configuration Status Account Reports for programs and operational systems, along with metrics and indicators on CM process implementation and support for Change Control Boards;
- Facilitate configuration audits for contractors engaged in new developments, addressing all CM-related aspects as per program or department management requests;
- Organize and conduct regular CM training and awareness sessions;
Required Skills and Experience
- A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience in managing Configuration Management processes and leading multidisciplinary teams, preferably in a technology-driven environment;
- Proven experience in leading large teams, developing talent, managing performance, and ensuring the long-term continuity of critical skills;
- Expertise in defining and implementing Configuration Management policies, objectives, practices, and procedures;
- Experience in operating or supporting change control boards;
- Strong skills in process modeling, problem analysis, resolution, and monitoring;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively within and across teams, alongside a customer-oriented approach.
Qualifications
- A university degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline, ideally in Aerospace or Information Technology.
