As a Trade Compliance Specialist in our Global Trade Services team at TE Connectivity, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our customs and foreign trade activities. Your expertise will be instrumental in assessing trade compliance risks, developing process solutions, and optimizing customs procedures to ensure the sustainable internal and external application of best practices.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Develop and automate the internal control system for customs and foreign trade activities to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Support customs and foreign trade audits, evaluate audit reports, and deduce measures for findings to minimize risks and optimize processes.
- Prepare and implement work and organizational instructions to ensure clarity and consistency in customs and foreign trade procedures.
- Take on projects related to customs and foreign trade topics, applying your expertise to drive process improvements and cost savings.
- Apply and implement suitable customs procedures for a wide range of business constellations, including local clearance procedures, to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Coordinate the operational processing of customs brokers, identifying opportunities for improvement and implementing changes to optimize processes.
- Analyze data and evaluate key figures to identify compliance risks and develop potential opportunities for cost savings and increased effectiveness.
- Monitor changes in trade regulations and legislation, appraising the associated potential impact on the company and deriving necessary actions to ensure compliance.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree or completed vocational training in a relevant field, such as forwarding, foreign trade, or a related field.
- Further training in customs and foreign trade, such as customs declarant or customs specialist.
- 4+ years of experience in trade compliance and operational customs clearance, including the use of simplified customs procedures.
- Well-founded knowledge of customs law, including customs procedures and customs valuation law.
- Experience in setting up and applying an internal control system.
- Initial experience in customs and foreign trade audits.
- Solid knowledge of IT systems, such as SAP and other BI applications.
- Confident with MS Office applications, including Excel, Power Pivot, and Access.
- Analytical and process-oriented thinking, independent and structured work style, and strong team collaboration skills.
- Very good written and spoken English skills.
- Some travel may be required to perform duties.
