ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability is a worldwide network comprising over 2,500 local and regional authorities dedicated to promoting sustainable urban development. Engaged in more than 125 countries, we shape sustainability policies and foster local initiatives aimed at achieving low-emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient, and circular development. Our members collaborate with a team of experts through peer exchanges, partnerships, and capacity-building efforts to drive systemic change in urban sustainability.
Internship in the ICLEI Global Events Team
This internship presents a valuable learning experience for students currently enrolled in a program that mandates an internship as part of their academic curriculum.
The selected candidate will assist in the planning and execution of significant events, including Daring Cities 2023, the upcoming ICLEI World Congress, and the logistics for the LGMA Multilevel Action Pavilion at COP28.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrimary Duties:
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of both in-person and virtual events.
- Facilitate the participation of funded attendees, including support with travel arrangements, accommodations, and reimbursements.
- Collaborate with the team responsible for program development and speaker coordination.
- Help maintain event websites.
- Manage event-related email accounts.
- Contribute to video editing tasks.
- Oversee the management of the event app and virtual platform, ensuring an optimal user experience.
- Track logistical details for event participants, speakers, partners, and staff.
- Assist in creating content for newsletters and promotional materials.
- Support the development of content for social media channels related to ICLEI Global Events.
- Assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as required by the ICLEI Global Events team.
Essential Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a vocational training program or university in a relevant field such as Event Management, Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with web editing tools (preferably WordPress) and desktop publishing software (preferably InDesign).
- Experience managing virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Whova).
- Creative, proactive, and dependable in a team setting.
- Proficient in written and spoken English.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with MailChimp.
- Background in social media management and event promotion.
- Experience with non-profit and/or membership organizations.
- Familiarity with local and/or regional government operations.
- Proficiency in additional languages is advantageous, particularly German, Portuguese, or Spanish.
- Knowledge of desktop publishing software (preferably InDesign).
Terms:
- This position is available at the ICLEI World Secretariat.
- The intern will report to the Global Events Senior Officer.
- Remuneration: 1000 Euros per month (full-time) before taxes and social insurance deductions.
- Working hours: 40 hours per week (full-time), with 2 days of leave accrued per full month.
- Working language: English.
- International travel may be required.
- The internship will be governed by applicable laws.
