ResponsibilitiesPosition Overview
This role is based in Berlin. As part of the NiCKEL RISK department, the Operational Risk Officer for NiCKEL Germany will play a crucial role in overseeing operational risk management, including data protection frameworks, and will report directly to the ORO's Manager of NiCKEL.
The RISK department serves as an integrated second line of defense, ensuring adherence to the risk management framework while collaborating with Business Units to support business development. Currently, the RISK department consists of 7 members, including a Data Protection Officer, who manage operational risks and data protection issues.
The primary responsibilities of the Operational Risk Officer for NiCKEL Germany include:
- Actively engaging in the identification and evaluation of local risks associated with NiCKEL Germany's payment operations.
- Serving as the local representative for the RISK department, participating in executive committees and other Group meetings.
- Ensuring the effectiveness of the local control framework to monitor and mitigate operational risks on a daily basis. Involvement in cross-functional projects with Business Units and other integrated functions (Legal and Compliance) is also expected.
- Collaborating with both the NiCKEL Data Protection Officer (DPO) and the Territory Data Protection Officer (T-DPO) to act as a local Data Protection Correspondent (DPC), ensuring compliance with applicable data protection regulations. This includes independent oversight of the local GDPR framework.
- Taking on a transversal role within NiCKEL and the NiCKEL RISK function as a subject matter expert on the permanent control framework.
This position will require regular travel to the head offices located near Paris, France.
QualificationsCandidate Profile
The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in the banking or payment industry, particularly in a control function.
- Proficiency in German and English is essential; knowledge of French is advantageous.
- A collaborative team player.
- Demonstrated integrity and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Reliability and consistency in performance.
- A solid understanding of the relevant regulatory framework.
