FIRE SAFETY INSPECTOR Location: Vilseck, Germany Eligibility Criteria

Open to current INTERNAL Local National Employees throughout Germany, including all Local National employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany.

Key Responsibilities

Fire Risk Management: Serve as the authority responsible for ensuring safety within facilities and operations. Independently organize and conduct regular and special fire risk assessments of various structures, including residential areas, educational institutions, and hazardous facilities, adhering to legal standards and inspection schedules set by the Fire Chief. Each inspector is typically assigned a specific geographic area or units, acting as the primary contact for fire prevention and protection matters. Identify and document violations of fire safety regulations and conditions that may lead to fire hazards, proposing corrective actions to mitigate risks associated with operations or facility changes.

Reporting: Prepare comprehensive fire risk assessment reports detailing identified deficiencies, justifications for code violations, and recommended corrective measures, which may range from informal guidance to immediate cessation of unsafe operations. Initiate actions to ensure compliance with safety codes, providing detailed documentation of violations and associated risks.

Training Development: Design and deliver training programs tailored to the needs of diverse audiences, including military personnel and local nationals. Develop both theoretical and practical fire prevention training sessions, including fire extinguisher usage, and coordinate these classes based on requests or directives. Regularly review training effectiveness and propose additional initiatives based on fire statistics and inspection outcomes.

Additional Duties: Perform other assigned responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
1. Completion of lower secondary education (Hauptschulabschluss).
2. Valid Class B and Class C motor vehicle operator licenses.
3. Proficiency in English at Level C1.
4. Computer literacy.
5. Successful completion of a medical evaluation as determined by U.S. Army authorities.

Certifications:
6. Required certifications as per Feuerwehrdienstvorschrift 2 (FwDV2) may include:
(a) Emergency Medical Technician certification.
(b) Firefighter certification.
(c) SCBA certification.
(d) Radio communicator certification.
7. License to operate emergency firefighting equipment.
8. Certification for servicing and recharging fire extinguishers.
9. Completion of mandatory medical examinations as specified by U.S. Army authorities.
10. Successful completion of in-house U.S. Army firefighting training within the first 24 months of employment, along with ongoing training to maintain certifications.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in fire protection and prevention is required, with a focus on controlling fires, rescue operations, and identifying fire hazards.

Employment Conditions
