The Search, Shopping and Pricing (SSP) division is dedicated to creating innovative solutions tailored for diverse customer segments, including providers such as airlines and railway operators, distributors like travel agencies, and emerging intermediaries. The competitive landscape is rapidly evolving, driven by online players and significant shifts in business models. Our platform operates at an extraordinary scale, managing vast amounts of data and software.
Purpose
The primary role of a Service Reliability Engineer is to ensure the seamless delivery of comprehensive services to our clientele, adhering to established SLAs. This is achieved through the enhancement, design, and implementation of services that automate application provisioning and manage the underlying infrastructure as a service, covering all layers from computing to storage, including networking.
The objective is to empower Application teams to deliver applications reliably and consistently by developing standardized automation processes that facilitate control, building, artifact management, and deployment of managed services, integrated into flexible toolchains, creating a unified continuous deployment pipeline for application development teams.
Your Main Responsibilities
Common accountabilities:
Maintain a highly available cloud-based application platform for our customers. Oversee application deployments, system upgrades, and patching of existing systems. Create automation tools for rapid deployment of instances from pre-defined applications or templates. Develop and utilize monitoring solutions to identify issues, resolve them, or escalate to development teams, ensuring we exceed our SLAs. Construct and manage development and testing environments, aiding developers in troubleshooting application issues. Contribute to the development of tools and processes that support the infrastructure. Utilize scripting to create necessary automation and tools as needed. Operate within our security and privacy protocols. Engage in continuous learning and exploration of new technologies with minimal supervision. Employ a variety of open-source technologies and tools. Have experience in systems and IT operations. Be comfortable with frequent, incremental code testing and deployment. Maintain a strong focus on business outcomes. Foster collaboration, open communication, and cross-functional teamwork. Provide hands-on engineering, administration, and technical support. Troubleshoot issues across the entire technology stack, including hardware, software, applications, and networks. Document current and future configuration processes and policies. Offer proactive thought leadership for innovative and efficient technology solutions. Drive continuous improvement in service delivery to customers. Engage in process reengineering and optimization. Collaborate with application owners and middleware organizations to define operational and non-functional requirements.Specific accountabilities:
Deep understanding of Software Engineering methodologies and development cycles, including version control systems and continuous integration/testing methods. Strong knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture design patterns. Familiarity with networking concepts, including communication protocols and load balancing techniques. Proficient in deployment and infrastructure configuration management tools, particularly Ansible. Extensive knowledge of Linux operating system administration. Understanding of container deployment technologies. Proficient in programming languages such as C, C++, Java, Shell, Perl, GO, or Python. Familiarity with monitoring tools and concepts. Strong grasp of cloud computing concepts and ecosystems. Knowledge of virtualization technologies. Familiarity with relational and NoSQL databases. Understanding of security information and event management technologies. Exposure to Agile methodologies is advantageous. Eagerness to learn new technologies. Commitment to automating tasks. Sense of responsibility for the platform. Excellent communication skills. Team-oriented with conflict resolution skills. Support Engineering. Educational background in Computer Sciences or Software Engineering. Experience in systems administration, Software Engineering, or DevOps in large environments.
