Position: Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver

Compensation: $18-20 per hour

Employment Type: Full Time; Non-Exempt

Reporting To: Childcare Director/Center Director

Supervisory Role: None

Location: CYC Sidney Epstein Center

Work Schedule: 10:30 AM - 7:00 PM; Monday - Friday; schedule may vary based on program requirements

Objective: The Custodian/Facilities Specialist/Driver is responsible for the routine cleaning and upkeep of designated facilities and grounds, executing tasks as assigned by the Childcare Director or Center Director.

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Cleaning Duties:

  • Dust and sanitize furniture; dispose of waste properly
  • Sweep, mop, and disinfect flooring; vacuum carpets
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors
  • Replenish hand soap, paper towels, and tissue supplies
  • Replace burnt-out light bulbs
  • Clean baseboards, air vents, and light fixtures
  • Strip, clean, buff, and apply floor finishes to hard surfaces; vacuum and shampoo carpets
  • Spot clean walls as necessary
  • Remove snow and ice from walkways and entrances as needed
  • Report maintenance needs for facilities or equipment

Driving Duties:

  • Transport youth from local schools to the Center during the academic year
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop a transportation schedule
  • Build relationships with school staff
  • Maintain cleanliness of transportation vehicles on a weekly basis
  • Monitor vehicles for routine and emergency maintenance

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in cleaning and maintenance
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license
  • Must pass DMV and criminal background checks
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Willingness to travel between various CYC locations
  • Proficient in using cleaning products and equipment
  • Willingness to participate in training on cleaning methods and new products
  • Basic computer skills
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish-speaking) are a plus
  • Knowledge of health, fire, and safety regulations
