Your Role:

At Forschungszentrum Jülich, we are engaged in pioneering work on scalable electronic architectures utilizing semiconductor spin quantum bits (qubits) to advance the development of universal quantum computers. To facilitate the scaling of qubits into the millions, it is essential to relocate portions of the control electronics closer to the qubits. This involves the design and implementation of cryogenic integrated circuits for qubit control and readout using cutting-edge CMOS technologies. Given the extreme sensitivity of qubits and their operation at low millikelvin temperatures, the demands on power consumption, noise, and area are significant. Therefore, innovative architectures and circuit topologies must be developed. Modeling the electronics and their interfaces with qubits in this challenging environment is a critical aspect of this work.

  • Abstract behavioral modeling of mixed-signal and digital integrated circuits

Your Qualifications:

  • A scientific Master's degree or an equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field
  • Fundamental knowledge in (integrated) circuit design and computer architectures or system modeling
  • A proactive approach to developing solutions
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate in a diverse environment

The duration of a PhD thesis at Jülich is initially planned for three years, with compensation aligned with 70% of the pay group E13 as per the provisions of the Collective Agreement for the Civil Service (TVöD-Bund), along with an additional 60% of a monthly salary as a special payment.
