Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Originator to join our team at E.ON Energy Markets GmbH. As a Senior Originator, you will be responsible for further growing E.ON's sourcing activities and value contribution through physical or financial commodity transactions of a complex and non-standard nature.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, structure, and capture commercial opportunities in existing and new markets for E.ON in a variety of energy commodities (electricity, gas, renewables, and cross-commodities)
  • Develop and execute hedging and risk mitigation strategies for positions stemming from origination transactions
  • Work closely with E.ON's portfolio management and front office departments (central and regional) to preserve and grow the value of our portfolio under management
  • Analyze markets, identify commercial opportunities, and develop sound origination strategies
  • Contribute to E.ON's earnings target by delivering on/above budget
  • Strong team player who can liaise and steer internal stakeholders (Risk, Portfolio Strategy, Finance, Contract/Legal, etc) in structuring, assessment, and approval of transactions
  • Experienced networker who is able to develop and keep up excellent relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders (Counterparties, Industry Associations, etc)

Requirements

  • University degree in economics, econometrics, finance, physics, or engineering
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills
  • Excellent understanding of option pricing theories and tools and their application to physical assets
  • Able to develop pricing tools for market-based valuation of flexible power offtakes, gas storages, cross-border capacities, and other physical energy assets
  • Highly entrepreneurial individual with proven track record in PnL contribution and in the successful conclusion of complex commodity transactions
  • Deep understanding of financial and physical energy markets (futures, forwards, and exchanges)
  • Familiarity with market and credit risk management, balance sheet structures, asset valuations methodologies, accounting principles particularly with respect to structured transactions
  • Experienced in and familiar with master trade agreements, such as EFET and ISDA
  • Persistence and self-motivated individual, able to excel in an unstructured environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Fluency in English is required; preferably able to speak additional European languages
