About the Opportunity

In collaboration with the Chair of Laser Technology at RWTH LLT, the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology ILT is offering a master thesis opportunity in the Joining of Plastics department. This project focuses on the development and simulation of laser structuring concepts for metal-plastic hybrid components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate and test new structuring concepts for metal-plastic hybrid components
  • Collaborate with the MSE at RWTH Aachen University to adapt the structural arrangement in the metal based on previous models
  • Analyze the mechanical strength in the composite with plastic using simulations
  • Conduct practical tests at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT)
  • Build upon initial preliminary investigations
Requirements
  • Currently studying mechanical engineering, engineering sciences, or physics
  • Interest in technical problems in application-oriented research
  • Ability to work responsibly, independently, and in a structured manner
  • High motivation and initial experience in simulation and laser systems is desirable
