The integration of metal and plastic in hybrid components harnesses the durability and rigidity of metal while benefiting from the lightweight properties of plastic. These innovative components are increasingly vital in the realm of lightweight construction.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and explore novel structuring techniques
  • Collaborate with the MSE at RWTH Aachen University on your research
  • Modify the structural configuration of the metal based on established models
  • Perform simulations to evaluate the mechanical integrity of the composite with plastic
  • Execute practical experiments at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT)
  • Engage with preliminary investigations that have already been initiated
  • Tailor the focus of your work to align with your interests

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in mechanical engineering, engineering sciences, or physics
  • A keen interest in addressing technical challenges in applied research
  • Ability to work independently, responsibly, and in an organized manner
  • High level of motivation and enthusiasm
  • Previous experience with simulation and laser systems is advantageous, though not mandatory
