Numerical Analysis Research Associate

The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is seeking a Research Assistant to join our esteemed research group focused on Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing.
Role and ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be involved in a collaborative research initiative with multiple leading European research institutions. The primary objective is to develop a scalable and high-performance computational platform for creating digital twins of human organs utilizing the deal.II library.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing a prototype simulator for liver mechanics that integrates multiscale processes, including the coupling of mechanical and vascular systems.
- Implementing data assimilation techniques to facilitate model personalization based on available clinical or preclinical data.
- Collaborating closely with project partners to ensure the successful execution of research objectives.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD in a relevant field such as computational mechanics, numerical methods for partial differential equations, or computational multiscale models. The ideal candidate should possess:
- A strong foundation in scientific and high-performance computing, computational mechanics, or reduced-order modeling.
- Experience with scientific programming languages, particularly C++ and Python.
- Familiarity with the deal.II library is advantageous but not mandatory.
