The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is seeking a dedicated Research Assistant to join our team in the Research Group "Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing".
Position Overview: This role is integral to a collaborative research initiative involving multiple esteemed European research institutions. The objective is to create a scalable, high-performance computational platform for digital twins of human organs utilizing the deal.II library.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a prototype simulator for liver mechanics that incorporates multiscale processes, focusing on the integration of mechanics and vascular systems.
- Implement data assimilation methods to facilitate model personalization based on clinical or preclinical data.
- Collaborate closely with project partners and contribute to innovative interdisciplinary research questions.
Candidate Profile: We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD in a relevant field such as computational mechanics, numerical methods for partial differential equations, or computational multiscale models. A strong background in scientific and high-performance computing, computational mechanics, or reduced-order models is essential. Proficiency in scientific object-oriented programming languages (C++, Python) is highly relevant, while familiarity with deal.II is advantageous but not mandatory.
