The Weierstrass Institute for Applied Analysis and Stochastics (WIAS) is a prominent research facility within the Berlin Research Network. This network encompasses seven non-university research institutions in Berlin, funded by the federal and state governments, and is affiliated with the Leibniz Association.
We are seeking a dedicated individual for a doctoral position in the research group focused on "Stochastic Algorithms and Nonparametric Statistics". This role is associated with the collaborative project SFB/Transregio 388.
The SFB/Transregio 388 project explores the interaction between rough analysis and stochastic dynamics, emphasizing rough paths and their applications in nonlinear stochastic partial differential equations. The theoretical framework of signatures and rough volatility establishes significant connections to algebra, statistics, and financial mathematics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate the signature of Hawkes processes and other jump processes, along with their expected values.
- Derive rough volatility models as scaling limits of jump processes utilizing signature techniques.
- Extend these methodologies to encompass regularity structures.
This position offers the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree. The project is a collaboration between esteemed researchers from WIAS and other institutions.
Candidate Profile:
We are looking for candidates who possess a master's degree in mathematics or a closely related discipline, with a robust foundation in stochastic analysis. Familiarity with rough paths and financial mathematics is advantageous.
