Your Role

As a Senior WAN Engineer specializing in hyperscaler platforms like Microsoft Azure, you will engage in a dynamic position that allows you to design, implement, and sustain the network architecture within Azure. You will be instrumental in ensuring optimal connectivity between the corporate network and cloud resources. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Integrating ExpressRoute connections and continuously enhancing network performance.
  • Implementing advanced security protocols to safeguard the Azure infrastructure in line with the highest standards.
  • Actively troubleshooting network issues and utilizing automation tools to establish repeatable processes, thereby improving operational efficiency.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of WAN solutions with other enterprise systems.
  • Monitoring network traffic meticulously, optimizing performance, and planning capacity while identifying bottlenecks in real-time.
  • Maintaining comprehensive network documentation and topology diagrams, regularly updating them in response to changes in the network infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, particularly in a WAN context.
  • In-depth knowledge of network operating systems from various vendors, including Junos-Evo, NXOS, IOS-XR, and familiarity with protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VLANs, VxLAN/EVPN, and VRF.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Relevant certifications like CCNP or JNCIP are advantageous.
  • Capability to design and document innovative network architectures tailored to meet specific requirements.
  • Willingness to participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call duty.
  • Fluency in both German and English.
