Key Responsibilities
In the capacity of a Senior WAN Engineer within a hyperscaler platform like Microsoft Azure, you will engage in a dynamic role. You will have the chance to design, implement, and uphold the network architecture within Azure, playing a crucial role in ensuring optimal connectivity between the corporate network and cloud resources. Your duties will encompass:
- Designing, implementing, and managing a robust and flexible network infrastructure that not only meets current demands but is also prepared for future advancements.
- Focusing on enhancing the network infrastructure to guarantee seamless and efficient communication across various locations and with our clients.
- Ensuring the reliability and performance of our network by identifying and resolving issues and outages promptly.
- Developing and enforcing network policies, procedures, and best practices while ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborating closely with other teams to ensure the smooth integration of WAN solutions with other enterprise systems.
- Monitoring network traffic meticulously, optimizing the network continuously, and planning capacity. Utilizing advanced monitoring tools, you will identify bottlenecks in real-time and proactively enhance performance.
- Maintaining and updating network documentation and topology diagrams in response to changes in the network infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Over 5 years of experience in network engineering, particularly in a WAN context.
- Extensive knowledge of network operating systems from various vendors, including Junos-Evo, NXOS, IOS-XR, along with proficiency in network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VLANs, VxLAN/EVPN, and VRF.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Capability to perform under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP, JNCIP are advantageous.
- Proficiency in designing and documenting innovative network architectures to meet specific requirements.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call duty.
- Fluency in both German and English.
