Your Responsibilities
As a Senior WAN Engineer within a hyperscaler environment like Microsoft Azure, you will engage in a rewarding role that allows you to design, implement, and sustain the network architecture within Azure. You will be instrumental in ensuring optimal connectivity between corporate networks and cloud resources. Your duties will encompass:
- Architecting, deploying, and managing a robust and flexible network infrastructure that meets current and future demands.
- Focusing on enhancing network performance to facilitate seamless communication across various locations and with our clients.
- Ensuring network reliability and performance by identifying and resolving issues and outages promptly.
- Developing and enforcing network policies, procedures, and best practices while ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to guarantee the smooth integration of WAN solutions with other enterprise systems.
- Monitoring network traffic meticulously, optimizing performance, and planning capacity using advanced monitoring tools to identify and address bottlenecks in real-time.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive network documentation and topology diagrams, updating them as necessary to reflect changes in the network infrastructure.
Your Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, particularly in a WAN context.
- In-depth knowledge of network operating systems from various vendors, including Junos-Evo, NXOS, IOS-XR, and familiarity with protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VLANs, VxLAN/EVPN, and VRF.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse teams.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Relevant certifications such as CCNP or JNCIP are advantageous.
- Capability to design and document innovative network architectures that meet specified requirements.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call duty.
- Fluency in both German and English.
