Key Responsibilities
In the capacity of a Senior WAN Engineer within a hyperscaler platform like Microsoft Azure, you will engage in a dynamic role. You will have the chance to design, implement, and sustain the network architecture within Azure, playing a pivotal role in ensuring optimal connectivity between the corporate network and cloud resources. Your duties will encompass:
- Crafting, executing, and managing a robust and flexible network infrastructure that meets current demands while being prepared for future advancements.
- Focusing on enhancing the network infrastructure to facilitate seamless and efficient communication across various locations and with our clients.
- Ensuring the reliability and performance of our network by identifying and rectifying network issues and outages.
- Developing and enforcing network policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborating closely with other teams to guarantee the smooth integration of WAN solutions with other enterprise systems.
- Monitoring network traffic meticulously, optimizing the network continuously, and planning capacity. Utilizing advanced monitoring tools, you will identify real-time bottlenecks and proactively enhance performance.
- Overseeing the creation and maintenance of network documentation and topology diagrams, regularly updating this documentation in response to changes in the network infrastructure.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in network engineering, particularly in a WAN context.
- Extensive familiarity with network operating systems from various vendors, including Junos-Evo, NXOS, IOS-XR, and network protocols such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, IS-IS, MPLS, VLANs, VxLAN/EVPN, and VRF.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to thrive under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Relevant certifications like CCNP or JNCIP are advantageous.
- Capability to design and document innovative network architectures to fulfill requirements.
- Willingness to participate in a rotating 24x7 on-call duty.
- Proficiency in both German and English.
