Mobile Equipment Service Technician Location: Germany Application Eligibility

This position is open to current internal local national employees of the U.S. Forces in Germany, including U.S. Air Force and AAFES-Europe, as well as external applicants residing in Germany.

• Relocation expenses are not authorized.

Key Responsibilities

The primary role of this position is to serve as a Mobile Equipment Service Technician within the 405th Army Field Support Brigade (AFSB) BASOPS Maintenance Directorate (BMD). Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting repairs and inspections on a diverse range of special purpose vehicles and equipment, such as construction machinery, forklifts, firefighting apparatus, sewage trucks, street sweepers, generators, cranes, truck platforms, trailers, and tactical vehicles.
  • Performing comprehensive diagnostics of failures and executing hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, mechanical repairs, minor bodywork, and touch-up painting.
  • Utilizing advanced technical procedures and methods to ensure high-quality work output, often under challenging conditions.
  • Transporting vehicles and equipment from customer locations to the repair facility as needed.
  • Reading and interpreting schematics for electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems to determine the most effective repair methods.
  • Conducting safety inspections in compliance with Host Nation Regulations.
  • Training apprentices and mentoring junior mechanics.
  • Planning and coordinating the availability of materials and equipment necessary for repairs.
  • Documenting material, time, and equipment usage, and initiating stock replacements.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possession of a valid driver's license (Class B); Class C is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a military driver's license.
  • Proficiency in office automation software.
  • Language proficiency: English Level B1 and German Level B2 are required.
Employment Conditions

This position offers:

  • Two permanent full-time roles (38.5 hours/week).
  • Occasional temporary duty travel within Germany.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
