Job Title: Mobile Equipment Service Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Mobile Equipment Service Technician to join our team at U.S. Army Europe and Africa. As a Mobile Equipment Service Technician, you will be responsible for repairing and inspecting special purpose vehicles and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Repair and inspect a wide variety of makes and models of special purpose vehicles and equipment, including construction equipment, forklifts, firefighting equipment, sewage trucks, street sweepers, generators, cranes, truck platforms, trailers, and tactical vehicles.
  • Perform a complete diagnosis of failures and corresponding hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, mechanic, minor body repair, and spot painting work.
  • Apply various technical state-of-the-art procedures and methods with varying degrees of complexity to achieve high-quality work output.
  • Transport and/or arrange for transportation of vehicles/equipment from customer locations to repair shop (either in-house or contractor).
  • Read and apply schematics of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Decide on the most efficient method of repair to achieve high-quality standards at the lowest cost.
  • Search for and apply solutions caused by specific circumstances, such as severe on-site conditions.
  • Repair vehicle components.
  • Release equipment to operators/customers, perform safety inspections in accordance with Host Nation Regulations (Unfallverhuetungsvorschriftsinspektion).
  • Participate in formal training of apprentices and advise/train junior journeymen mechanics.
  • Perform Privately Owned Vehicle (POV) inspections IAW Army in Europe Regulation 190-1 and advise customers and POV owners on all technical methods.
Requirements:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license class B.
  • Driver's license class C desired.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a military driver's license.
  • Office automation skills required.
  • English Language Proficiency Level B1 and German Language Proficiency Level B2 required.
Working Conditions:

The work is performed on-site in very small teams, often under severe conditions (i.e., open air, wet ground, adverse climatic influences) and with limited availability of machinery and tools.
