Data Center Operations Specialist

The Data Center Operations Specialist is tasked with implementing best practices and resolving issues related to the electrical and mechanical infrastructure within the data center environment.
This role requires a proactive and self-motivated individual who is adept at finding solutions to complex technical challenges. Frequent site interventions, critical switching activities, and troubleshooting of infrastructure issues are essential components of this position.The ideal candidate will have a passion for hands-on work with Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) systems, including diesel generators, switchgear, UPS systems, PDUs, AHUs, fire detection systems, and building automation systems.
You will report to the Data Center Operations Manager.Key Responsibilities:
- Upholding the highest safety standards and promoting a world-class safety culture in all operational procedures.
- Driving continuous improvement initiatives on infrastructure through the standardization of procedures and policies, while meeting performance metrics.
- Ensuring 100% uptime on all customer-supporting infrastructure.
- Collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders to achieve operational excellence.
- Planning and executing preventive maintenance for site-critical facility infrastructure in accordance with established procedures.
- Monitoring and supervising facility operations.
- Participating in the successful build-out and retrofit of Data Center infrastructure.
- Reacting and responding appropriately to any potential customer-impacting events related to electrical or mechanical infrastructure.
- Reviewing incident reports and providing updates and recommendations to management.
- Drafting and maintaining technical documentation, including method statements and standard operating procedures.
Physical Requirements:
- Availability to work on a 24x7 schedule.
- Ability to work at heights and from ladders.
- Capability to perform physical tasks during shifts.
- Willingness to work in a noisy environment with appropriate safety gear.
- Flexibility to travel between data center sites as needed.
- Proficiency in the German language at a B1/B2 level.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities or similar environments.
- Certification or diploma in an Electrical field.
- An undergraduate degree in a technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering).
- Strong electrical competencies and knowledge of mechanical systems.
- Ability to draft accurate support procedures and system documentation.
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Project management experience.
