Bioinformatician for Precision Oncology and Multiomics Data Management

Shape the Future of Cancer Research with Your Expertise in Bioinformatics
EMBL is seeking a highly motivated Bioinformatician to join our dynamic team dedicated to precision oncology and multiomics research. In this role, you will play a crucial part in establishing and maintaining a robust data repository for INTeRCePT collaborators, ensuring the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles are upheld throughout the process.
Your Responsibilities:
- Develop and curate a comprehensive data repository for primary and derived data from INTeRCePT collaborators, leveraging EMBL's state-of-the-art IT infrastructure.
- Perform meticulous data import, quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC), consistency checks, documentation, and metadata management.
- Create a seamless environment for dataset integration by ensuring identifier consistency and facilitating data sharing among researchers.
- Provide expert support to researchers in locating, accessing, and troubleshooting data-related issues.
- Collaborate with researchers to upload datasets to public repositories in conjunction with scientific publications.
- Design and implement interactive interfaces for data visualization and browsing, transforming data into formats suitable for machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
- Adapt and enhance open-source scientific software tools to streamline the aforementioned tasks.
- Engage with the broader scientific community by contributing to open-source projects and developing training materials on scientific data management and research software engineering.
Your Qualifications:
- A university degree in the natural or life sciences, coupled with experience in biological data analysis. A PhD and experience in scientific computing are highly advantageous.
- A passion for meticulous attention to detail, organization, and collaborative work environments.
- Proficiency in R and Python programming languages; strong skills in at least one language and basic knowledge of the other.
- Experience in creating interactive websites using tools such as Shiny and Quarto.
