Theisen's Home Farm Auto is seeking a dedicated Sales Associate

Reporting to: Store Manager

Position Overview

The Sales Associate plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service within their designated department while also providing support across various sections of the store as required. A friendly and approachable demeanor is essential to ensure that Theisen's remains a leader in the retail industry. Responsibilities include welcoming customers, assisting them in selecting appropriate products, and clearly communicating the advantages and features of the merchandise.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver outstanding customer service

- Engage with customers throughout the store to assess their needs and guide them to the appropriate products

- Articulate the benefits and features of products to customers and recommend complementary items

- Maintain a broad understanding of all products, with potential specialization in specific categories

- Provide price quotes, facilitate merchandise orders, and follow up on special requests

- Address customer inquiries via phone and in-person according to established protocols

- Uphold security protocols

- Communicate inventory shortages and submit requests for new items

- Utilize communication devices to request additional assistance

- Support customers during checkout and assist with carryout services

- Ensure accurate shelf labeling, organize merchandise according to labels, and create appealing product displays

- Receive and verify merchandise shipments against delivery documents

- Unpack and tag merchandise, ensuring proper pricing

- Restock shelves and displays, and assemble products as necessary

- Manage interstore transfers

- Perform cleaning tasks, including organizing merchandise, dusting, sweeping, and maintaining overall cleanliness

- Ensure that the store's appearance aligns with Theisen's brand standards

- Undertake additional tasks as directed by management, which may include inventory preparation, unloading deliveries, and operating cash registers

Required Skills and Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following skills and qualifications are necessary:

  • Strong customer service abilities
  • Basic arithmetic skills
  • High integrity and ethical standards
  • Capability to operate phones and learn cash register functions
  • Familiarity with forklift and pallet jack operations is a plus
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Positive attitude, active listening skills, and an engaging personality

Physical Requirements

Frequent physical activities include lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, reaching, and light grasping. Occasional activities may involve lifting over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, and squatting. The associate must be able to communicate effectively and maintain attendance standards. Vision capabilities must be sufficient to perform job functions efficiently. Manual dexterity is required for operating a computer or cash register.

Work Environment

Work is primarily conducted within the store, with occasional outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions. The environment is typically fast-paced, with regular deadlines and sales targets. Associates may encounter noise and vibrations, as well as potential hazards such as burns and cuts. Compliance with safety protocols is essential, and protective equipment may be required for certain tasks.
