Supervisor: Store Manager

Position Overview

The primary responsibility of the Floor Supervisor is to support the Store Manager in ensuring the store operates efficiently, with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and maximizing sales and profitability.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of relevant retail experience is required.
  • Completion of the National Retail Hardware Association test within three months of employment.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Store Manager in maintaining appropriate staffing levels across departments and aid in scheduling and time management tasks.
  • Oversee employee productivity, ensuring adherence to procedures, dress code, and completion of necessary documentation.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the Store Manager regarding employee performance assessments.
  • Identify projects and assist in their execution.
  • Carry out opening and closing procedures, including cash drawer preparation.
  • Act as a liaison between management and hourly staff, executing directives as needed.
  • Perform various tasks typically assigned to associates across multiple roles.
  • Assist customers with inquiries, needs, and product loadouts.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service consistently.
  • Operate the cash register when required.
  • Support store maintenance tasks such as organization, stocking, and cleaning.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Abilities

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential duties effectively. The following skills and abilities are essential:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, along with a solid understanding of spreadsheet analysis.
  • A high level of integrity and ethical standards to manage sensitive information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly.
  • Capability to read and interpret safety guidelines, operational instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to perform calculations related to discounts, percentages, and volume.
  • Basic knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles for accurate record maintenance.
  • Common sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagrammatic instructions.
  • Excellent organizational skills to manage a diverse workload effectively.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Good decision-making and problem-solving abilities based on logical reasoning.
  • Familiarity with construction, maintenance, and repair processes is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Competence in assigning and evaluating tasks, coaching, mentoring, and training associates.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • A positive attitude, good listening skills, patience, and an approachable demeanor.

Physical Requirements

The role involves frequent physical activities, including lifting up to 25 lbs., walking, standing, bending, and reaching. Occasionally, lifting over 50 lbs., climbing stairs, and squatting may be required. The associate must be able to communicate effectively and maintain attendance standards. Vision capabilities must be sufficient to perform job responsibilities efficiently. Manual dexterity is necessary for operating computers and cash registers.

Work Environment

The work is primarily conducted within the store, with occasional outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions. The environment is typically fast-paced, with regular deadlines and sales goals. Associates may encounter noise and vibrations and should be prepared for potential hazards associated with retail operations.

Store Locations: Vary by location, generally 8:00 AM-8:00 PM Mon-Sat and 9:00 AM-6:00 PM Sun.
