Job Overview

The role acts as the primary authority for revenue management across the European region, focusing on devising strategies to enhance room revenue and elevate the RevPAR Index (market share) for each hotel within the portfolio.

This position encompasses leadership in two key areas: overseeing regional Revenue Management Systems (RMS) teams and formulating as well as supervising revenue management and distribution strategies for significant accounts in the region.

The responsibilities include:

  • Managing the rate plans accessible to all hotels in the region, collaborating with EMEA Revenue Management to strategically design and implement new rate plans that meet market demands.
  • Cultivating strong partnerships with key stakeholders to provide revenue management support, including consultations on rate plans, systems configuration, and strategies aimed at optimizing revenue performance.
  • Conducting training sessions for Operations and Hotel teams on available Rate Plans, emphasizing best practices and revenue management strategies.
  • Selecting and overseeing third-party Revenue Management Service Providers that deliver essential tools and reporting systems to hotels.
  • Collaborating closely with sub-regional Operations and Commercial leaders to align strategies that enhance Wyndham's contributions.
  • Representing the company at industry forums and events focused on revenue management best practices and emerging industry trends.

Complexity of the Role

  • The position holds a medium level of decision-making authority, as it is responsible for the design of rate plans and systems that influence revenue generation for hotels.
  • Acts as a supervisor and mentor to Revenue Management Analysts, Specialists, and Managers.
  • The work involves strategic planning, analysis, and training, along with oversight of routine tasks, processes, and operations. The employee is expected to define and implement clearly prescribed, standard policies and procedures. Strategic thinking and analysis are required to present options for consideration by internal and external stakeholders and management.
  • Challenges may be complex, necessitating a combination of pre-designed solutions and tailored developments.
  • The role requires active participation in projects that lead to innovative ideas or methodologies, with improvements generally impacting the hotel's financial performance and the immediate department.
  • Serves as a project team member focused on achieving defined objectives.
  • Regular interaction with designated property contacts is essential, along with collaboration within the department and occasional communication with other departments to exchange specialized information.

Financial Scope and Responsibilities

  • This position has a significant revenue impact, ensuring adherence to Brand Standards, Revenue Management Policies, and Best Practices, all designed to generate incremental revenues, foster customer loyalty, and enhance brand visibility for properties while minimizing opportunity costs associated with inadequate rates and inventory availability across various channels.
  • The role and its direct reports can influence a hotel's top-line revenues.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Must possess in-depth expert-level knowledge of revenue management strategies and systems.
  • Demonstrated initiative in job performance, including the ability to anticipate, prevent, identify, and resolve issues as necessary.
  • Proficient in analyzing, interpreting, and explaining statistical data to develop strategies and actionable plans.
  • Ability to assimilate information from diverse sources and adapt it to meet specific needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build trust and instill confidence, motivating and influencing others effectively.
  • Strong listening, understanding, and clarifying skills to address concerns raised by key clients, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • High proficiency in MS-Office, Salesforce, BI Tools, and designated RMS systems.

Qualifications and Experience

  • BA/BS degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Finance, or Economics, or a minimum of six (6) years of experience in Revenue Management.
  • At least three (3) years of director-level experience in international markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Central Europe / Germany market at the director level is essential.
  • Proven experience in managing key account relationships.
  • Global acumen with the ability to work effectively across various cultures and teams.
  • Experience in the hospitality industry is required.
  • Proficient in Revenue Management systems, hotel property management systems, and industry-related reports.
  • Fluency in English and German is mandatory.
