At the Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR), in the research group Engineering Mathematics and Computing Lab (EMCL), we are seeking for employment at the earliest possible date

**Student Assistants (f/m/d)**

undergraduate or with bachelor’s degree, between 20 to 40 hours per month

to assist in the development of heterogeneous parallel programming model technologies. The work will be carried out within the AdaptiveCpp project, an open source implementation of the cross-industry SYCL standard for heterogeneous computing in C++. The AdaptiveCpp effort, led by the Heidelberg University, is one of the major SYCL and C++ standard parallelism offloading solutions, and recognized for its innovative compiler design, portability, flexibility and competitive performance. The supported compilation targets of AdaptiveCpp include CPUs, AMD GPUs, Intel GPUs and NVIDIA GPUs.

**Your tasks.**
- Maintenance and packaging of AdaptiveCpp and related compiler stacks
- Work with and on the SYCL conformance test suite (CTS) to improve AdaptiveCpp conformance to the SYCL specification
- Work on libraries in the SYCL ecosystem to improve AdaptiveCpp support; e.g. oneMKL

**Your profile.**
- You are enrolled as a student at a German university
- Very good knowledge of English
- You are excited to work in a team and contribute your creativity, questions and ideas
- You are experienced with Linux and git
- A passion for high performance computing, heterogeneous hardware and open standards
- Advanced knowledge of C++ or intermediate C++ knowledge with an eagerness to polish your C++ skills
- Knowledge of any of the following is a plus: OpenCL, CUDA, HIP, Kokkos, OpenMP, clang/LLVM compiler stacks, software optimization for high performance computing
