Within the GlycoPep project, in the field of “Development of processes for the targeted modification of gly
- cosylation and the production of novel glycopeptide fractions”, the Martin Luther University Halle
- Wittenberg, Faculty of Natural Sciences I, Institute of Pharmacy, Department of Downstream Processing, is
seeking to fill the position of a
Scientist / Postdoc (m-w-d)
in full time at the earliest possible date. The position will be limited until 31.12.2027.
The salary will be up to Entgeltgruppe 13 TV-L, if the personal requirements and tasks are fulfilled.
**Tasks**:
The joint project GlycoPep - Tailor-made glycopeptides from milk for the prevention of age-associated diseases
- is taking an interdisciplinary approach to decipher and develop the health-promoting potential of milk proteins
and novel glycosylated milk peptide fractions for the production of high-valuable and sustainable food for the
prevention of age-associated diseases.
- Carrying out research work in the field of _in vitro_ glycosylation of peptides
- Planning, implementation and optimization of the production, product yield and processing of recombinant
glycosyltransferases
- Development of processes for the targeted modification of glycosylation and their optimization
- Investigation of glycosylation patterns of glycol-peptides
- Production of recombinant enzymes for the sustainable provision of co-substrates for glycosylation reac
- tions
- Coordination and exchange in a research network
- Writing scientific reports/publications as part of the research project
**Requirements**:
- Completed scientific university degree in biochemistry or biotechnology, food chemistry, pharmacy or com
- parable courses of study
- Doctorate (PhD) in natural sciences
- Very good practical and theoretical knowledge in the production of recombinant proteins (upstream and
downstream processing)
- Very good knowledge in the cultivation of bacteria (e.g., E. coli) and yeast strains (e.g. Saccharomyces/Kluy
- veromyces) as well as the optimization of fermentation processes
- Profound knowledge in the field of analytics, especially of peptides and proteins (e.g., SDS-PAGE, Western
blot)
- Very good experience with molecular biology techniques (nucleic acid analysis, (q)PCR, cloning with various
methods, genomic integration, etc.)
- Genome and transcriptome analyses are an advantage
- Knowledge of the field of enzymology and chromatographic methods is an advantage
