The Centre for Solar Energy and Hydrogen Research Baden-Württemberg (ZSW) is one of the leading institutes for applied research into the major issues relating to the energy transition which include photovoltaics, wind energy, battery technology, fuel cells, electrolysis, e-fuels, circular economy, policy advice, and the use of AI for process and system optimisation. We work in tandem with industry to pave the way to market for new technologies. The challenge falls to more than 300 employees and around 100 research and student assistants at the ZSW bases in Stuttgart and Ulm. The ZSW also operates a test site for wind energy and another test site for PV systems. The ZSW is a member of the Innovationsallianz Baden-Württemberg (innBW), an alliance of ten applied research institutions.

For the research department
**Fuel Cell Fundamentals (ECG)**, at the
**Ulm site**, we are seeking as soon as possible a
**Post-doc (M/F/d) in the field of aqueous electrolyte metal-air batteries**:
**Your areas of activity**:

- Research and develop bifunctional catalysts materials for ORR and OER
- Evaluate electrochemical performance of research-type bifunctional electrodes
- Develop analytical tools and methodologies to assess the electrochemical properties of materials and cells
- Elucidate structural characteristics / properties relationships at active material and electrode levels
- Collaboration with project partners and writing of project reports
- Presentation of project results at project meetings, conferences and journals

**Your profile**:

- Above-average PhD Degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering or related
- Thorough knowledge of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry, a PhD in the field of electrocatalysis would be an asset
- Good knowledge of MS Office and scientific evaluation software, e.g. Origin
- Excellent oral and communication skills, including the proven ability to write in English at a suitable standard for the preparation of written reports, publications and presentations of the work at generalist and specialist levels, including discussions with collaborators and scientists in different fields
- High level of commitment, problem-solving ability and ability to work under pressure
