Research Associate (f/m/d)

Ion Channels

Full time / part time and permanent / temporary

Your key responsibilities:

- Establish and optimize electrophysiological automated and manual patch-clamp assays independently using either recombinant cell lines or primary cells
- Implement new methods/experiments based on publications
- Design, plan, execute experiments independently to characterize the pharmacology of small ligands and record experiments in electronic lab notebooks
- Develop and establish relevant new technologies, as needed
- Work efficiently with high attention to detail and quality criteria within a team environment in a matrix organization
- Train and coordinate colleagues in specific work tasks
- Present individual project results at client meetings
- The position requires at least 80% of lab working time

Your ideal qualifications:

- PhD in the field of biological sciences, with proven hands-on experience in electrophysiology gained in an academic, pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment
- Experience in cell culture of recombinant or primary cells and in plate-based cellular assays
- Significant experience in manual or automated patch clamp, ideally gained within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry
- Proficiency in data analysis software, such as GraphPad Prism (or equivalent)
- Experience in fluorescence-based ion channel assay development and execution would be a plus
- Proficiency in designing, validating, and trouble-shooting automated patch-clamp assays would be a plus
- Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and to work successfully under pressure and to tight deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously, and yet be an effective team player
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, German advantageous
