Recreation Assistant

**Duties**:
The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

- Schedules, plans and may teach/host classes and events (art classes, crafting classes, contests, etc.)
- Finds and manages instructors to teach classes/events.
- Coordinates the use of facilities for classes and events.
- Performs a variety of administrative duties, to include, but not limited to, initiating work requests, staff summary sheets, calendars and talking-papers.
- May be required to collect fees for events and activities.
- Researches and obtains optional funding opportunities to pay for and/or subsidize programs and events (single airman program, deployed spouses program, etc.)
- Prepares and requests marketing materials.
- Overseas the Craft Store retail operations, to include opening/closing when needed, taking payments, stocking, inventory, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- This position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
- This position requires satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks in accordance with Air Force and DoD policy, and a Child Care Tier 1 background investigation.

- **Qualifying Experience**:

- Carries out recurring activities such as classes, clubs, special events, outreach, competitive games and events, and self-directed leisure.
- Assists in promoting marketing strategies.
- Recommends, gathers, and evaluates information collected from different sources, including past programs and current popular programs in other communities.
- Involved in the collection of fees and protects the funds.
- Assists in maintaining the facility to meet operational standards.

**Education**:
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
