**Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of
migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental
partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It
does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

**_Context:

The IOM Family Assistance Programme (FAP) is funded by the German Federal Foreign
Office to facilitate the family reunification of vulnerable migrants who are compelled to leave
their country, with a person with protection status in Germany. The Family Assistance
Programme offers a regular migration pathway for migrants in vulnerable situations.

Under the overall guidance of the Chief of Mission, and under the direct supervision of the
Senior Project Assistant (FAP), the Outreach Assistant (FAP) accomplishes the following
duties:
**_Core Functions / Responsibilities: _**
- Provide beneficiaries with accurate information in a timely manner. This will include

distributing information sheets, the Integration Handbook and visa requirement checklists;

visa requirements or submission procedures;
- Assist in providing in-person counselling relating to family reunification of families of

refugees and subsidiary protection holders to Germany;
- Support outreach activities to recognized refugees and subsidiary protection holders to

answer questions and provide remote guidance on form filling, visa requirements and
general information;
- Assist in reaching out to beneficiaries in countries where the project is not present in order

subsidiary protection holders and their families;
- Data Capture: Maintain high degree of skill in using IOM internal software platforms, enter

required beneficiary data and activities;
- Reporting: Maintain records of all activities and contact with principle applicants and report

these records periodically in a timely manner;
- Assist in identifying Unaccompanied Minors (UAMs) and vulnerable migrants awaiting

family reunification and flag those to the FAP Team Leader;
- Assist in developing and updating IOM web content relating to FAP;
- Performs other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor or the CoM.

**_Required Qualifications and Experience _**

**Education**
- University degree in Political Science, Migration Studies, International Relations or a

related field from an accredited academic institution, with at least two years of relevant
professional experience, preferably in similar roles;
OR
- Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with at least 4

years of relevant working experience, preferably in similar roles.
**Experience and Skills**
- Practical experience of how to multi-task, prioritize and work independently;
- Knowledge of German institutions and German migration policies is an asset;
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge on migration with a focus on Family

Reunification is an asset;
- Previous work experience with national, regional or international public bodies would be

an advantage.

**Languages**

Fluency in English is required as well as proficiency in one of the following languages: Arabic,
Dari and Pashto.

Knowledge of another official IOM language is an advantage.
