- **Who we are and what we do**:_

Ärzte für Madagaskar e.V. - Doctors for Madagascar (DFM) is a registered charity based in Germany with all projects operating in Madagascar. DFM has been active in Madagascar since 2011 and operates an office in the capital Antananarivo (Analamanga region) and three regional offices at Ejeda, Fotadrevo, and Manambaro, in the rural south of the island (Atsimo-Andrefana and Anosy regions). We employ 90+ staff in Madagascar all of whom are Malagasy nationals.

Working with over 80 public and private health facilities throughout the country, as well as several hundred community health workers, we have extensive experience implementing public health interventions. Focus areas include maternal and child health, infectious diseases (tuberculosis, malaria), financial risk protection, quality of care, and WASH activities. All our projects are co-conceived and co-evaluated with our local partners including health-facility and community leaders and public officials from the Malagasy Ministry of Health.

DFM is an active member in various national and international human development networks. It is a member of Transparency International’s “Action for a Transparent Civil Society” and a signatory of the Federal Republic of Germany’s Transparency Register. Our project activities are being conducted in accordance with the World Health Organization Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. DFM works in close cooperation with Charité Global Health, the Einstein Center Digital Future Berlin and the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health.

All our projects are therefore regularly evaluated internally and externally; through a collaboration with Charité Global Health and the Heidelberg Institute of Global Health most of our projects are also undergoing scientific project evaluations.
- **Less administration for increased efficiency**: We want to handle donations as efficiently as possible. We spend less than 4% of our budget outside of Madagascar. Our team in Madagascar consists of 100% Malagasy nationals.
- **What your responsibilities are**:_

The COO role will be core to our organization to foster cooperation between our Malagasy and German teams, donors and stakeholders. This will be a key role in the organization, overseeing main operations and strategic decisions to develop DFM into an organization capable of reaching and helping more people.

- Strategy/Leadership: _
- Make important policy, planning, and strategy decisions and identify and address problems and opportunities for the organization
- Develop, implement, and review operational policies and procedures
- Assess projects’ risks, issues and requirements
- Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations
- Finance: _
- Work closely with the Finance Team on the management of the monthly budget development and control of both the organization and projects
- Compile and provide donor-specific financial reports and activity reports
- Oversee budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing
- Overall Operations: _
- Manage day-to-day operations of the organization in close collaboration with our Malagasy leadership team
- Evaluate and optimize operations to be the most impactful and cost-effective
- Ensure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations
- Forge and maintain relationships with key donors, implementing organizations, and government
