At least one-third of set working hours will be made available for the research associate’s own academic work.

Quantum information processing and quantum simulation of complex many-body systems employing Rydberg atoms in optical tweezers has developed into a vivid field of research recently. In our project we work with a flexible optical tweezer-based Rydberg quantum processor employing alkaline-earth like Yb atoms (AEA). We take advantage of the possibilities AEA offer over the widely used alkali atom-based Rydberg tweezer experiments like an optical clock transition for more sophisticated qu-bit realizations and the option of triple magic optical trapping to significantly enhance Rydberg coherence times. Your tasks will include e.g. implementation and characterization of spatially resolved single Qu-Bit gates for individual Yb atoms in optical tweezers, optimization and characterization of Rydberg blockade based two-Qu-Bit gates as well as initiating first seps towards fault-tolerant quantum computing exploiting the specific level scheme of Yb atoms. Teaching duties include three hours per week during teaching times (3 LVS).

**Profile**:
A university degree in a relevant field.
- a master’s degree in physics
- experimental experience in the field of laser cooling, trapping and controlling of cold atoms, ideally alkaline-earth atoms
- additional knowledge and experimental experience in optical clock operation, optical tweezer generation, computer control of complex experimental set ups as well as a good knowledge in data analysis are much appreciated
- experience in programming with Python is helpful
- self-motivated and team player with communication skills

We offer
- Reliable remuneration based on wage agreements
- Continuing education opportunities
- University pensions
- Attractive location
- Flexible working hours
- Work-life balance opportunities
