Nurse (Family Advocacy and Education)

**Duties**:
- Provide primary and secondary highly specialized professional intervention services of an advanced nature and considerable difficulty utilizing a strength-based approach and trauma informed services.
- Provide extensive case management services.
- Assess, plan, develop, implement, and evaluate services for families that includes exploring the family history.
- Provide psycho-education in varying venues such as classrooms, hospitals, and/or promote parent-child relationships.
- Develop and manage NPSP services for families in which the mother and/or father are first time parents.
- Provide instruction on topics regarding family planning and/or child development (i.e child abuse and neglect, nutrition, well-baby care, child health and safety, parent-child communication, depression, stress management).
- Collaborate with military and/or civilian agencies to ensure continuity of care.
- Provide home visitation services.
- Provide in-service education to professionals regarding the effects of family maltreatment on family health.
- The nurse position requires a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the D.C., the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States, and
- must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association (AHA) in accordance with Army Regulation 40-68.
- This position requires regular contact with children under the age 18 and a favorable determination of suitability to do so and periodic re-verification check of multiple agency records.
- This position requires a valid, state-issued and USAREUR Driver's License and must be insurable in order to travel to other locations in the Command's structure.
- This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. Shifts may be rotated on a regularly scheduled basis.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 5% of the time away from your permanent duty station.

**Basic Requirement for Nurse (Family Advocacy and Education)**:
**Degree**:A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).
**Licensure**:A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
Foreign Degree: A degree from a Foreign Nursing School. Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status.
Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.
Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
