**for three years starting on 01.04.2025 as a**

Scientific Research Associate (M/F/d)

to be filled as full-time.

Remuneration will be paid up to pay group E13 TV-L, depending on the tasks assigned and fulfilment of the

personal requirements.

**Tasks**:

- Development of an independent research project within one of the following focus areas in plant sciences

(using model organisms and/or crop systems):

- Abiotic stress responses
- Developmental biology
- Genomics
- Methodological orientation of the research in one of the following disciplines:

- Molecular genetics/biology
- Structural biology/protein biochemistry
- Bioinformatics
- Conducting teaching duties in agricultural science degree programs (4 semester hours per week).
- Supervising a technical staff member to support your own research projects
- Collaborating with existing research groups within Collaborative Research Centre 1664 - SNP2Prot and

other interdisciplinary projects
- Utilizing and further developing advanced infrastructure, such as high-end plant growth chambers, mo
- lecular biology laboratories, computational phenotyping facilities, and the high-performance computing

infrastructure at MLU

The position offers the opportunity for further academic qualification in the form of a habilitation.

**Requirements**:

- A completed academic university degree and a completed doctorate (at the time of employment) in bi
- ology, biochemistry, agricultural sciences, bioinformatics, or related disciplines
- Proven scientific excellence with a molecular biological/genetic or bioinformatics focus to establish an

independent research group
- Expertise demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications.
- Advanced practical experience and knowledge in one of the above-mentioned areas within plant sci
- ences
- Motivation to establish an independent research direction, including a 2-3 page outline for a potential

research project.

- Willingness to engage in an active research community with collaborations in plant molecular biology,

protein biochemistry, and bioinformatics.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and basic knowledge of German.
- Strong communication and information-sharing skills, a goal-oriented and structured working style, initi
- ative, commitment, and teamwork skills.
