Condé Nast is home to Wired, Vogue, GQ, AD, Vanity Fair and more of the world's most celebrated brands. Our team creates high quality video programming experiences for viewers across every screen, and is led by industry veterans who have built video businesses with billions of monthly views. Conde Nast Video has grown rapidly and has an extensive digital distribution network, with more than 50 million subscribers on Youtube and ranks in the top 20 in unique viewers in comScore's Top 100 Properties. Delivering on average over 1 billion video views per month, the team currently produces 4,000+ digital videos per year in all genres including non-scripted, documentary, how-to, comedy, animation, scripted, branded, virtual reality and (live) event programming.

Overview/Purpose
We are looking for a creative and strategic leader to drive the continued growth of Condé Nast’s digital video business across our German operation. As Head of Video, Germany you will work alongside Local Heads of Editorial Content and Commercial Leaders to build, oversee, and grow a digital video business focused on local language content for German audiences, with the ambition for global appeal. You will be supported by a local Creative Production and Post Production team and Global Video Leads in the UK and US.
This role is based in Munich and reports to the VP, Content Strategy, UK and EME, based in the UK.
The purpose of this role is provide leadership to Heads of Editorial Content on video planning, production and new IP development to drive audience growth, engagement, and to support monetization
Video output includes:
- Original, social video, and podcast content for global digital platforms (e.g. O&O, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok), with focus on premium, scalable quality.
- Syndicated series for local markets.
- Video franchises that transcend platforms and markets
Primary Responsibilities
Video Planning and Production
- Oversee the day to day video planning and production for all brands in Germany, supporting individual Heads of Editorial Content deliver series that leverage the brands’ iconic attributes, drive audience and support monetization
- Support new video IP development in Germany, working with Central Development Teams in UK and Global Video Leads in the US to build audience and support diversified monetization
- Collaborate continuously with Local Commercial & Consumer Video Leadership to provide visibility on editorial video IP that can be offered to clients and to garner commercial insights to inform new editorial IP development
- Manage a local video production and post production team deliver best in class video output on time and within budget.
- Partner with Global Production and Post Production leaders to ensure video series are delivered on time, to budget and to a high standard
- Collaborate with Local and Global Finance teams, to drive production efficiency
- Collaborate continuously with Audience and Finance Leadership to track and evaluate editorial video performance against KPIs and pivot programming and development strategy, as required, to deliver to business objectives
- Inspire and support local editorial video teams to be relentless with premium storytelling development and execution, bringing fresh perspective to both the content itself and the people, processes and workflows behind it (e.g. rough cut notes, team screenings)
- Motivate world-beating ideation and iteration, leveraging a foundation of existing successful formats and IP while also exploring new digital video frontiers with a view to building on Condé Nast’s established reputation as the leading storyteller and global media entertainment business.
Leadership
- Exhibit and set a culture of professionalism and results-oriented purpose, leading the team with practical optimism, a collaborative spirit and resourceful attitude with stakeholders across Condé Nast
- Manage local production and postproduction teams
- Oversee new pilots launching in market
- Partner with local Commercial Leadership to shepherd editorial Original IP with commercial partnership appeal
- Collaborate closely with relevant Condé Nast market editorial and business leadership teams to deliver across unified Condé Nast KPI objectives
