**Location**: Munich, Germany

**Position Summary**:
Apellis is entering into an exciting time with its first product launch in ophthalmology representing the first ever medicine to be available in eye care for advanced dry AMD / geographic atrophy.

We are continuing to build out a comprehensive DACH leadership team in Munich, Germany and are looking to hire a highly motivated and experienced HR Country Lead. This position will drive the HR strategy as well as the development and day to day execution of all HR tasks for the region. As a key member of the local leadership as well as the International HR team, the HR Country Lead will drive all DACH HR initiatives to provide an employee oriented, high performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards as well as goal attainment and organizational growth. This individual will contribute as a strategic partner to the accomplishment of business plans through initiatives that attract and retain talent, develop employees and leaders, as well as the alignment organizational goals and objectives.

**Key Responsibilities Include**:

- Leads the implementation of the HR strategy for DACH region
- Builds a strong relationship with the General Manager in order to initiate strategic steps and planning that will support the company’s business strategies, success and growth.
- Collaborates closely with other parts of HR (Global, International Region, COEs and operations) to align on HR strategy, priorities and implementation.
- Acts as an agent of change by promoting and supporting change management across the region.
- Partners with the leadership team to design and deliver a people plan aligned with the business strategy
- Liaises with the Talent Acquisition team to define and implement the recruiting strategy at the local level.
- Acts as a reliable partner for the business in designing and implementing the best programs and solutions in terms of people and organizational development.
- Monitors the results of the employee surveys and in partnership with the leadership defines proper action plans to address issues and fill in specific gaps.
- Fosters a company culture based on Apellis’ values and support the continuous improvement of the working environment and arrangements.
- Integrates global policies/procedures/initiatives locally and ensures that local policies are compliant and best in class.
- Translates global C&B strategy to comply with local market environment and best practice.
- Represents Apellis as needed to external parties such as government agencies and external providers (e.g. pension, insurance)
- Ensures proper organization and execution of HR operational activities and processes in the region.
- Ensures compliance with local regulations by liaising with internal and external legal counsel to address country specific requirements.

**Experience and Skills**:

- A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in industrial/organizational psychology, human resource management, business or a related field is required.
- At least 5+ years of experience in leading an HR function in a commercial organization. Preferable experience in both large and small companies in the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
- Strong knowledge of the German labor law.
- Skills in organizational design and the ability to analyze people issues affecting business performance, as well as change management skills are a benefit.
- Experience in developing and implementing HR policies, procedures and systems.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and deal with competing demands as well as to work independently and with the flexibility to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Good analytical skills, insights and the ability to use results to build business cases
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and English, including presentation and facilitation.
- Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and preferably Workday.
