**Your team**
- You will be part of the Supply Side, Labour and Surveillance Division in the Directorate General Economics. Our work covers a broad range of topical issues, including structural trend and labour market analysis, potential growth and productivity drivers, corporate vulnerabilities, country surveillance, mission work and EU governance. An area of particular focus is the macroeconomic impact of climate change and digitalisation, including related policy choices.

In your role as Economist, you will be part of a highly motivated, multicultural and diverse team of more than 30 people. You will support the Division in providing high-quality economic analysis and advice to inform monetary policy discussions and prepare policy positions for international and EU meetings and fora, in close cooperation with other business areas and external stakeholders.

**Your role**
- As an Economist you will:

- work in a team in one or more of our areas of expertise;
- undertake monitoring and forecasting of macroeconomic developments in euro area economies;
- identify analytical or modelling gaps;
- prepare economic analysis and policy positions for the Eurosystem decision-making bodies;
- contribute to ECB publications and represent the ECB externally in working groups and conferences.

**Qualifications, experience and skills**
- Essential:

- a master’s degree or equivalent in economics or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of two years’ professional experience in at least one of the Division’s areas of responsibility, i.e. the labour market, supply side issues (including the macroeconomics of climate change and digitalisation) or country surveillance and governance;
- excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience in drafting high-quality, policy-sensitive and relevant briefings and the ability to present complex analytical issues in simple language;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

**Further information**
- The contract offered will be short-term ESCB/IO, the appointment being for 18 months as of the exact starting date of the selected person, extendable to up to 36 months.
