**Your team***
- You will be part of the Business Cycle Analysis Division in the Directorate General Economics. Our Division analyses and forecasts real macroeconomic developments in the largest euro area countries and in the euro area as a whole. This includes monitoring business cycles, developing and using forecasting tools and analysing the main domestic demand components. We also assess euro area sector accounts and produce and analyse the ECB’s Corporate Telephone Survey and the Consumer Expectations Survey.

In your role as a Senior Economist, you will be part of the Consumer Expectations Survey team. You will support the further development of the survey and the regular reporting of the results, and work on related analytical projects.

**Your role***
- As a Senior Economist you will:

- use the Consumer Expectations Survey to contribute to the Division’s understanding of the euro area household sector and to provide policy advice;
- work in collaboration with other business areas on policy documents;
- present the results of analyses of key policy issues at ECB and Eurosystem fora;
- publish the results of your work in the ECB’s Economic Bulletin and Working Paper Series, and in academic journals;
- engage and collaborate with staff members and management within the Division and the Directorate General, and across the ECB.

**Qualifications, experience and skills***
- Essential:

- a master’s degree or equivalent in economics or another relevant field (see How you can join us for details on degree equivalences);
- in addition to the above, a minimum of seven years’ professional experience at the level of an economist in the field of consumer finance, labour markets, housing markets, consumer expectations or firm expectations (or a PhD in a relevant field plus three years’ professional experience at the level of an economist);
- practical experience working with software such as Stata or R;
- a sound understanding of economic issues related to the household sector and how they affect the economic outlook;
- experience in drafting clear and well-structured notes to strict deadlines, drawing on state-of-the-art economic and econometric analysis;
- an advanced (C1) command of English and an intermediate (B1) command of at least one other official language of the EU, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Desired:

- a PhD and/or a research publication record in the field of consumer or firm surveys or another relevant field.

- The contract offered will be short-term ESCB/IO, the appointment being for 12 months as of the exact starting date of the selected person, extendable to up to 36 months.
