At Factor 2 Energy, we are on a mission to revolutionize the geothermal market. Our vision is to scale the global geothermal potential rapidly and to provide 24/7, green energy at competitive rates by utilizing CO 2 as working fluid. “Work smarter, not harder” Our approach uses CO₂ as the working fluid in geothermal power generation – enabling emission-free, efficient, and baseload-capable electricity. By repurposing geological formations that either naturally contain CO₂ or are designated for carbon capture and storage (CCS), we transform passive storage sites into active, sustainable energy resources. Our technology leverages the unique thermophysical properties of CO₂ to unlock significantly more viable sites than conventional geothermal energy – without fracking, without new drilling technologies, and by building on existing infrastructure and know-how. Turn your expertise into climate impact We are looking for a Process Engineer who will work closely with Michael (our CTO) and the full R&D team. Your mission is to take ownership of process and cycle calculations and optimizations. This role will be central to project assessments and initiation, working in multidisciplinary teams to advance early-phase project development and technical validation. Your main tasks: Support project assessments and feasibility studies Perform process and cycle calculations and optimizations Lead the design and specification of top surface equipment Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams Conduct risk and safety assessments Drive continuous improvement of the cycle performance What you bring: Master’s degree in Process Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related field Proficiency with engineering software (e.g., Aspen/HYSYS, Ebsilon, Pro II, ProMax) and ability to interpret P&IDs, PFDs, and HBDs Recent graduates are welcome — practical experience through internships or working student positions is expected Strong analytical skills and a structured working style Ability to manage tasks independently and deliver on time Excellent written & spoken English; German is a plus What we offer: Competitive Salary 30 days of vacation Direct leadership access Direct and measurable impact Flexible working time Not ticking every box?
