Amazon is looking for a Senior Program Manager to join the EU Deforestation program team. EU Deforestation is an environmental protection policy under which manufacturers, producers and distributors take responsibility for their products and packaging at production. The regulation aims to limit global deforestation and forest degradation provoked by EU consumption and production. It imposes strict rules in terms of due diligence to all companies wishing to place affected products on the European market, or to export them. The regulation concerns seven commodities and their derived products: cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soya, wood, and rubber. The Amazon scope is therefore very wide since a huge number of products are derived or manufactured from these commodities, including. leather, meat, chocolate, coffee, soybeans, palm nuts, tires, furniture, cosmetics, printed books, pulp, and paper. Overall, we have millions of vendors and ASINs as well as our own private brands that need to comply with it. Starting on 30DEC2024 Amazon must: (1) ensure that our relevant products are produced on land that is deforestation-free; (2) ensure that relevant products are compliant with local labor, human rights, land use, and environmental protection laws in the country of production; and (3) conduct appropriate due diligence and prepare a due diligence statement for each of these products.
The Program Manager will be part of a team who will ensure that Amazon is compliant with new regulations by designing, developing and executing the respective measures in collaboration with Retail, Books, Legal, Public Policy, Finance and diverse tech teams. Hence, this role requires to coordinate and direct efforts across multiple business teams to allow environmental compliance processes. The individual will complete environmental compliance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the business teams in the implementation of Amazon's EU Deforestation programs.
The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills, operational business acumen and demonstrate success in program management with technical aspects, as well as demonstrate a bias for action and ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Develop project plans, process documentation and change management plans for new environmental compliance programs
- Design and implement innovative change management and communication strategies to achieve compliance for new regulations
- Develop and own project success metrics, deep dive on KPIs, troubleshoot reports and multiple data sources
- Measure, track and report on Project status
- Drive the execution of change programs to completion, meeting deadlines, prioritizing workloads and maintaining a strong attention to detail
- Analyze the needs of multiple stakeholders across different product lines and clearly document business requirements
- Interact with multiple stakeholders including Government Agencies, 3P data analytics companies, consultants to communicate on operations and represent data/metrics information and project reviews
- Build and maintain global partnerships with Tech and Non-Tech teams
- Present to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences including Senior Leaders
You will work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical individuals, use your analytical thinking and problem-solving skills to successfully. You will use your experience to prioritize different projects based on the needs of a dynamic business environment in a fast paced, changing/growing organization. You will use your ability to distill complex and ambiguous subjects into clear action plans.

- Master's degree or equivalent
