Position Overview

Amazon is seeking a Senior Program Manager to be part of the EU Deforestation initiative team. This environmental protection policy mandates that manufacturers, producers, and distributors are accountable for their products and packaging from the point of production.

The regulation aims to curb global deforestation and forest degradation caused by consumption and production within the EU. It enforces stringent due diligence requirements for all companies intending to market affected products in the European market or export them.

This regulation encompasses seven key commodities and their derived products: cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soya, wood, and rubber. The scope of Amazon's operations is extensive, as a vast array of products is derived or produced from these commodities, including leather, meat, chocolate, coffee, soybeans, palm nuts, tires, furniture, cosmetics, printed books, pulp, and paper.

Key Responsibilities

  • Formulate project plans, process documentation, and change management strategies for new environmental compliance initiatives.
  • Design and execute innovative change management and communication strategies to ensure adherence to new regulations.
  • Establish and manage project success metrics, conduct in-depth analyses of KPIs, and troubleshoot reports from various data sources.
  • Monitor, track, and report on project progress.
  • Drive the execution of change initiatives to completion, adhering to deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Analyze stakeholder needs across diverse product lines and accurately document business requirements.
  • Engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies and data analytics firms, to communicate operational metrics and project updates.
  • Build and sustain global partnerships with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Present findings to a range of audiences, including senior leadership, in both technical and non-technical contexts.

In this role, you will collaborate cross-functionally with both technical and non-technical personnel, utilizing your analytical and problem-solving skills to drive success. You will leverage your experience to prioritize projects based on the dynamic needs of a fast-paced business environment.

The EU Operations Compliance team at Amazon evaluates operational compliance requirements across the EU and ensures adherence to regulations that impact the entire lifecycle of Amazon's services and products, from purchase to delivery. Together, we strive to create innovative solutions that are simple, efficient, and scalable, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements to deliver the best and most sustainable experience for customers, vendors, and sellers.

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in compliance, audit, or risk management.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing standards, policies, and programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.
  • Experience in leveraging technology and implementing lean principles or Six Sigma methodologies for process improvements.
  • Master's degree or equivalent experience.
