Senior Risk and Compliance Program Manager

Amazon is seeking a highly skilled Senior Program Manager to oversee the EU Deforestation initiative.
The EU Deforestation policy is a crucial environmental regulation that mandates manufacturers, producers, and distributors to take accountability for their products and packaging from the point of production.
This regulation aims to curb global deforestation and forest degradation resulting from EU consumption and production activities.It enforces stringent due diligence requirements on all companies aiming to market affected products within the European market or export them.
The regulation encompasses seven key commodities and their derivatives:cattle, cocoa, coffee, oil palm, soya, wood, and rubber.
Given the extensive range of products derived from these commodities, including leather, meat, chocolate, coffee, soybeans, palm nuts, tires, furniture, cosmetics, printed books, pulp, and paper, the scope of Amazon's responsibilities is vast.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all relevant products are sourced from deforestation-free areas.
- Guarantee compliance with local labor, human rights, land use, and environmental protection laws in the production countries.
- Conduct thorough due diligence and prepare comprehensive due diligence statements for all applicable products.
The Program Manager will collaborate with various teams, including Retail, Books, Legal, Public Policy, Finance, and diverse technical teams, to ensure compliance with the new regulations.
This role necessitates effective coordination and direction of efforts across multiple business units to facilitate environmental compliance processes.
Daily Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Develop comprehensive project plans, process documentation, and change management strategies for new environmental compliance initiatives.
- Create and implement innovative change management and communication strategies to ensure adherence to new regulations.
- Establish and monitor project success metrics, analyze KPIs, and troubleshoot reports from various data sources.
- Track and report on project status effectively.
- Drive the execution of change initiatives to completion, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining a strong focus on detail.
- Analyze stakeholder needs across different product lines and document business requirements clearly.
- Engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies and third-party data analytics firms, to communicate operational metrics and project updates.
- Build and sustain global partnerships with both technical and non-technical teams.
- Present findings and updates to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
About the Team
The EU Operations Compliance team at Amazon evaluates operational compliance requirements across the EU and ensures adherence to regulations affecting the entire lifecycle of Amazon's services and products, from purchase to delivery.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in compliance, audit, or risk management
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Proven experience in developing and implementing standards, policies, and programs
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification
- Experience in leveraging technology and implementing lean principles/Six Sigma methodologies for process improvements
- Master's degree or equivalent
