We are seeking highly qualifiedcandidates to fill the position of TA Head New Products (MedicalAffairs).
The Position:TheHead TA New Products (Medical Affairs) is responsible forproactively screening and evaluating new potential assets to bein-licensed to DSE SBD from a medical perspective, together with across-functional team at DSE (Market Access and Commercial) andother global partners (especially BD, global medical affairs,global marketing, global strategy).
Roles andResponsibilities:- Matrix lead of across-functional team at Daiichi Sankyo Europe, drivingin-licensing activities.
- Lead of a smallmedical team with 1 to 2 directreports.
- Planning, leading, and executing themulti-discipline, multi-location, product verification aspect ofnew candidates.
- Lead the search, triage, andevaluation of in-licensing opportunities from biotech andpeer-pharma, including early research projects, new modalityplatforms, pre-clinical and clinical stage assets, and Life CycleManagement (LCM) opportunities.
- Activeparticipation and contribution into the highest global R&Dboard, i.e. Global Portfolio and Asset Decision Committee(G-PAD).
- Establish and lead Due Diligence teamsat DSE and process to drive the detailed scientific evaluation ofpotential assets to support recommendations atgovernance.
- Prepare materials for seniormanagement briefings of recommendedopportunities.
- Ensure effective communicationduring BD process with key internal partners and cross-functionalteams.
- Building and maintaining a broad networkof internal and external partners.
- Leveragingrelevant database and analytics tools to curate technology anddisease (target) biology maps in support of opportunityidentification and prioritization, and anticipation of new entrypoints.
- Support the evaluation of newdatabase/analytics to improve upon curation ofinsights.
- Conduct primary and secondaryresearch in support of due diligence and/or strategic projectswhich may include, but is not limited to: KEE interfacing,medical/scientific congress attendance, review of scientificliterature, and analyzing/tracking keycompetitors.
- Producing a landscape assessmentto give an idea of the current and future competitive dynamics ofthe disease space.
- Continuously analyzing datato provide a medical judgment of the new candidates on the successof an approval.
- Responsible for the entiremedical assessment of the new candidate including the targetproduct profile establishment and the review of the competitivelandscape.
- Provide recommendations for productimprovements andenhancements.
- MDpreferred, University degree in natural sciences (medicine,pharmacy, chemistry, biotechnology, biology or equivalent) followedby 15+ years of experience in relevantroles/positions.
- Deep scientific and medicalexpertise in a broad field of disease areas, focus oncardiovascular and immunological diseases is aplus.
- Previous experience in R&D throughoutall phases and experience in planning a product life cyclemanagement program.
- Experience in MarketingAuthorization Applications.
- Experience onactive participation in Due Diligence activities and processes is aplus.
- Experience ideally in evaluating newcandidates for pipeline in cardiovascular-metabolic area indefining target product profiles and evaluating risk benefitprofiles in relation to current and anticipated futurelandscape.
