I have partnered with a global market leading animal healthcare provider that is searching for an ambitious and entrepreneurial professional to join their team as a Head of Direct Procurement, covering a spend in excess of €500 million. My client operates in over 20 countries, providing services to over 2, 000 locations globally and is at the forefront of clinical excellence. The selected candidate will lead strategic procurement across the groups clinical spend, covering diagnostics, nutrition & pharmaceuticals and will play a pivotal role in increasing value across the entire business.


Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing strategic sourcing activities across the direct procurement business unit, focusing heavily on diagnostics, nutrition & pharmaceuticals.
  • Managing existing supplier relationships and identifying new potential suppliers to obtain the best value for money whilst ensuring high quality standards are met and maintained.
  • Managing the direct procurement spend of roughly €500 million.
  • Analysing and monitory supplier performance by conducting regular supplier reviews and highlighting any problems that arise.
  • Collaborating and working cross-functionally with other business units inside the organisation to ensure sourcing strategies are aligned and objectives are met. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to optimise success across the business.


Experience Required:

  • Bachelors degree, ideally in pharmaceutical science or veterinary medicine
  • Extensive procurement experience
  • Entrepreneurial mindset that is able to work in a fast moving business and doesn't mind operating in a sole contributing environment
  • Experience managing a team of direct reports
  • Proven strategic sourcing experience, with excellent negotiation skills
  • Leading cross-functional teams built up of non-procurement professionals
