This role requires a strategic thinker with extensive experience in procurement within the pharmaceutical industry, capable of driving cost efficiencies, supplier relationships, and compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing: Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with the company’s business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and supplier performance.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and establish relationships with key suppliers to ensure a reliable supply of materials and services. Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor the procurement team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Ensure the team is equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
- Cost Management: Monitor and analyze procurement spending, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements. Implement best practices in procurement processes to optimize spending.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure business continuity.
- Compliance and Quality Assurance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and other departments to align procurement strategies with operational needs and product development timelines.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry developments to make informed sourcing decisions and anticipate future needs.
- Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement activities, reporting on performance and progress to senior management.
- Sustainability Initiatives: Drive sustainability initiatives within the procurement function, promoting responsible sourcing and environmentally friendly practices.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in procurement, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role within the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry.
- Proven track record of successfully managing procurement operations and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills, with the ability to build and maintain supplier relationships.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- In-depth knowledge of procurement best practices, regulatory requirements, and industry trends.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing and collaborating with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, including ERP systems and data analytics platforms.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing business needs.
