This is a pivotal leadership role with a rapidly growing tour operator. As part of the management team, the successful candidate will oversee Sales and Customer Experience in the DACH market.
This opportunity will manage the D2C internal sales team and be the most senior position within the German office.
FLUENT GERMAN essential for this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities:
Leading the Sales Team:
• Recruit, onboard, and train Sales Specialists.
• Set targets, performance plans, and standards for Associate Sales Directors.
• Collaborate with Sales Managers and internal teams (e.g., IT) to innovate processes and enhance efficiency.
• Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with Associate Sales Directors to review performance and set goals.
• Foster personal development through annual individual development plans and regular reviews.
• Organise skills training sessions with internal and external trainers.
• Plan and host team-building events, both on- and off-site.
• Motivate the team with incentives, contests, and public recognition.
Team Collaboration and Culture:
• Ensure Sales Managers and teams collaborate effectively and share best practices.
• Lead by example, uphold company culture and values, prioritise tasks, communicate clearly, and deliver results.
• Work with the People Services Manager to handle employee requests and resolve issues.
Customer Experience Management:
• Lead a small Customer Experience team, overseeing the formation of an On Trip team to handle customer queries during travel.
• Maintain in-depth knowledge of the German market in partnership with the Marketing Director.
• Resolve escalated customer issues and support in crisis situations.
Business Management:
• Represent the German operations within the company, providing regular updates.
• Set and monitor sales quotas, targets, and revenue forecasts.
• Oversee budgeting, workforce planning, and the success of the local office.
• Collaborate with the UK-based Finance team on reporting and audits.
• Develop strategies to improve revenue per lead, customer experience, loyalty, and team engagement.
• Work closely with the local Marketing team to attract and retain customers in Germany.
• Analyse sales and customer experience data, address performance gaps, and report findings to leadership.
• Lead cross-functional projects, especially in technology.
• Monitor competitor activity and represent the company at industry events.
• Enhance professional knowledge by attending workshops, participating in industry networks, and staying informed on industry trends.
Qualifications:
• Proven leadership experience in sales, preferably in the travel industry.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to motivate and engage a team, focusing on customer experience.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
