  • What you will be doing
  • We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as the Head of Customs for our operations in Germany. As the Head of Customs, you will be responsible for overseeing all customsrelated activities, ensuring compliance with local regulations, optimizing import/export processes, and maintaining strong relationships with customs authorities. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth international trade operations for our organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with German customs laws and regulations.
  • Manage all aspects of customs operations, including classification, valuation, origin determination, duty optimization, and recordkeeping.
  • Lead the World Courier Customs team for Germany including several colleagues abroad (20 total)
  • Monitor changes in customs regulations and provide guidance to internal stakeholders on their implications.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customs authorities in Germany, building strong relationships and resolving any issues or disputes.
  • Collaborate closely with crossfunctional teams such as Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance, and Legal to ensure seamless import/export processes.
  • Conduct periodic audits to assess compliance levels and identify areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices related to customs procedures.
  • Provide training and support to internal teams on customsrelated matters.
What your background should look like
Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain Management or a related field. Master's degree preferred.

  • Extensive experience in a similar role within a multinational company or logistics provider.
  • Strong people management skill set.
  • Indepth knowledge of German customs laws and regulations.
  • Strong understanding of international trade compliance requirements.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing complex customs operations.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English and German (verbal and written).
  • Ability to build effective relationships with customs authorities at various levels.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing regulatory environments.
