Director Retail Transformation

PURPOSE

Contribute to the execution of the adidas Global Retail organization’s strategy and principles by managing key initiatives, cross-functional projects; and be an active team member in cross-functional teams. Support the development of new strategic business opportunities and help drive execution of the cross-functional roadmap of retail transformation and channel initiatives. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of key retail processes to decrease complexity and increase productivity.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Shape and structure the Global Retail strategic framework and steer process to derive annual business priorities for the channel
  • Lead and support global retail channel initiatives, process improvements, new tools and best-practice sharing in alignment with the strategic framework and annual priorities.
  • Implement and execute standard project management approach and drive effective communication methodology.
  • Update the management team regarding status and impact of individual projects in a consistent and effective manner.
  • Create and lead the backbone for all comms, processes, and tools to build one global retail community acting as focal point within the network of local markets, global functions and other key support functions.
  • Prepare (and present) SVP Global Retail documentation and communication to main stakeholders.
  • Create platforms to drive a culture of sharing and adopting best practices across markets.

  • to set personal objectives, targets, guidelines and assess all reports
  • to develop the functional and social skills of direct reports on and off the job
  • to manage all reports as an integrated team by setting team objectives, targets, and guidelines 
  • to ensure smooth cooperation of all direct reports as one team, internally and externally

  • Global: Global Sales Business Development, Global Wholesale, Global Digital, all global support functions (HR, Finance, Tech, Corporate Strategy, etc.)
  • Markets: Retail Directors, DTC & Franchise Leads and respective market support functions
  • Others: External Partners/Agencies

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Business Manager with proven track record of success
  • Proven methodological skills (e.g. business planning, strategic development)
  • Proven functional skills (e.g. Store Operations, Product Merchandizing, Retail Real Estate)
  • Strong analytical skills and critical strategic thinking, ability to connect strategy and drive execution thru strong project and change management skills
  • Strong leadership and people development skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills (communication, influencing, stakeholder management)
  • High degree of commercial awareness, business acumen and practical judgement
  • Mental flexibility, initiative, determination and results orientation
  • Fluency in written and spoken English; additional languages are a benefit

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in business administration, ideally with marketing and sales focus or equivalent professional experience.
  • Business experience: 8+ years
  • Functional experience: 3-5+ years in the retail industry
  • Leadership experience: 3+ years in management
  • Cross-functional experience ideally with finance / operations / marketing / sales
  • Industry: sporting goods / retail / consumer goods
