Our engineering department, the Bureau of technology Our technology department, known as the Bureau of Technology (BoT), is at the heart of Back Market. It consists of over 30 dynamic product teams that are engaged in developing and managing services to deliver significant value to our customers and suppliers. These teams are effectively supported by our Platform group, which includes more than 10 specialized teams addressing cross-cutting technical issues to enhance our operational capabilities. In addition to these functional teams, we have established numerous groups dedicated to sharing knowledge across various technical disciplines, such as security, backend, frontend, AI, and mobile. About the role Back Market is looking for a Data Engineering Manager who will lead our Data Platform squad (10 engineers) within the Platform division.The core competencies of this role include mentoring and coaching people, cultivating a collaborative team, leading delivery, production operations, and continuous improvement. This transition provides an opportunity to modernize the platform, raising engineering standards.Building a set of efficient and loosely coupled services is one of the main challenges to face for the years to come. But teams are excited to independently control their release schedules, manage their data, SLAs, tools, and ultimately be responsible for their own service-offering. What you will do in this role ️

Leading a collaborative team in delivering great software that our customers and sellers will love Collaborating with the product group and other tribes to align the team with company objectives and initiatives across engineering and the wider business Ensuring the development of people and teams through ongoing coaching and mentoring Creating a team environment where team members feel like they belong and are supported to do their best work Establishing open communication and a culture of feedback between team members Working in an agile build it and run it environment where engineering teams build, launch, monitor and support the sections they own Working with the team to identify and make improvements in our processes, practices and product Supporting teams in increasing delivery proficiency by creating a learning environment.
